James McDermott – Writing TV

In this interactive writing workshop, participants will learn tools and techniques to help them generate ideas, create characters, write dialogue, and structure scripts for their own TV drama.

Worskhop Leaders’ Biographies

Alice d’Lumiere is an East Anglian Spoken Word Artist, Performance Poet and Workshop Leader, possessing a long-standing creative relationship with Colchester Arts Centre.  Alice is genderfluid; her current  Trans Trilogy humorously explores those personal gender experiences through prose, verse and unlikely performance challenges, from aerial hoop to attempting opera singing!

Jan Etherington Multi award-winning comedy writer, Jan’s current hit is BBC Radio 4 comedy series, Conversations from a Long Marriage, starring Joanna Lumley and Roger Allam, commissioned for a 6th series.  With husband, Gavin Petrie, Jan created many radio and TV  series including Second Thoughts, Faith In the Future and Next of Kin.

James McDermott’s plays published by Samuel French include Jab (Finborough Theatre), Time & Tide(Park Theatre/East Anglian Tour) and Rubber Ring (Pleasance Islington/UK tour). Poetry books include Wild Life Nine Arches Press and Manatomy Burning Eye. James writes on EastEnders and lectures in creative writing at UEA. James began his professional career at the inaugural 2015 INK Festival.
