Anthony Horowitz

Anthony Horowitz is one of the UK’s most prolific and successful writers, renowned for his diverse work across books, TV, films, plays, and journalism. A true polymath, Anthony has written over 50 books, including the bestselling Alex Rider series, which has sold over 21 million copies worldwide and was adapted into a popular TV series by Amazon Freevee. His latest Alex Rider novel, Nightshade: Revenge, will be published in 2023.

In addition to his success with teen fiction, Anthony has written acclaimed adult novels, including two new Sherlock Holmes novels (The House of Silk and Moriarty), and continuation novels for James Bond, commissioned by the Ian Fleming Estate, with Trigger Mortis (2015), Forever and Day (2018), and With a Mind to Kill (2022). His award-winning novel Magpie Murders (2016) was adapted into a BritBox series, starring Lesley Manville, and will be televised by the BBC in 2023. The sequel, Moonflower Murders, will begin filming in 2023. He also created the Hawthorne detective series, with four books published to date, and a fifth, Close to Death, currently in progress.

As a TV writer, Anthony is credited with creating and writing some of the UK’s most beloved series, including Midsomer Murders (for which he produced the first seven episodes) and the award-winning Foyle’s War, which garnered critical acclaim and numerous accolades, including the Lew Grade Audience award for BAFTA. He is also known for his complex thrillers such as Collision (2009) and Injustice (2011), both of which were hugely successful on ITV. His recent series New Blood premiered on BBC in 2016.

Beyond his writing, Anthony has become a patron of Home-Start in Suffolk, a charity that supports families facing challenging circumstances. His dedication to this cause is reflected in his statement: “For me, charity begins at Home-Start.”

In recognition of his remarkable contributions to literature, Anthony was awarded a CBE in 2022.
