Lise Mayer

Lise Mayer is an American television and film writer, best known for co-creating and writing the iconic BBC comedy series The Young Ones alongside Rik Mayall and Ben Elton. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Mayer's early life was shaped by her family's strong ties to the arts—her father was a professor at Manchester University, where she met Mayall. In addition to The Young Ones, Mayer has written for numerous TV shows, including The Last Resort, Paramount City, The Fast Show, Saturday Zoo, and Casualty, and produced Denis Leary's No Cure For Cancer.

Mayer also worked as a writer/consultant for the film The Borrowers and co-wrote Suite 16, Paper Marriage, Flushed Away, and The Matchmaker. Her literary works include Bachelor Boys: The Young Ones Book, People I Have Shot, The Utterly Merry Comic Relief Christmas Book, and In Search of Happiness, among others. An advocate for social causes, Mayer is involved with the activist group The Citizens and continues to contribute to both the creative and activist communities.
