Arthur Smith is a British comedian, writer, and performer, known for his work in stand-up comedy, musical comedy, and television. He was part of the alternative comedy scene in the 1980s and has regularly performed at the Edinburgh Fringe since 1977. Smith has written and performed in a variety of projects, including his musical comedy show Arthur Smith Sings Leonard Cohen, radio programs like Excess Baggage and Loose Ends, and TV series such as Grumpy Old Men and A Life of Grime.

Smith has also appeared in sitcoms like Red Dwarf and Doctor Who, and co-hosted the Comedy Club on BBC Radio 4 Extra. As an author, his works include Trench Kiss, Sit-Down Comedy, My Name is Daphne Fairfax (an autobiography), and more. Smith has won the Panel Prize at the Edinburgh Fringe and turned down a lifetime achievement award from the Perrier Awards in 2005.
