A TRIBUTE TO JOHN BAINER

It is with great sadness and shock that INK shares the news that John Bainer died suddenly on 3 January 2025.

John had been a leading member and Trustee of INK for over 8 years. Along with a myriad of other things he was responsible for landing vital grants and donations for us year after year. This work was irksome and onerous, and he worked at it relentlessly and with characteristic enthusiasm. Without him it is doubtful whether at times we would have continued.

John was an asset, not just to us, but also to many others in Halesworth, including The Millennium Green, Edgar Sewter School, The Bowls Club, The Museum and The Cut Arts Centre. They will all feel his loss deeply too.

John and his wife Sue were full-time supporters of INK and we enjoyed hospitality, meetings, endless grant sessions, sustenance and doggy cuddles in their lovely home repeatedly over the years.

Sue surprised us all by offering the donations to John’s memory to INK. We are absolutely humbled and thrilled by this offer. We thank her and send our deepest condolences and thanks for her contribution to INK over many years.

If you would like to donate in John’s name his funeral directors have set up this page. Please don’t forget to add GiftAid.
