JAN ETHERINGTON

Jan Etherington is a multi-award winning comedy writer and journalist. Her most recent success is  BBC Radio 4’s comedy CONVERSATIONS FROM A LONG MARRIAGE, starring JOANNA LUMLEY & ROGER ALLAM, which began in 2018 and won the VOICE OF THE LISTENER AND VIEWER AWARD in 2021. A 6th series will air on Radio 4 from 19th May 2025. Five series are available on BBC SOUNDS. A book of the scripts is available in both paperback and hardback.

Beginning her a career a music journalist, interviewing bands and singers in the 70s, Jan went on to write star interviews and personal, humorous columns for national newspapers and magazines. She still writes regularly for many publications and has a column in Suffolk magazine

With her husband, Gavin Petrie, Jan has written many long running radio and TV hit comedies. Including RADIO 4 and ITV’s SECOND THOUGHTS, BBC’s NEXT OF KIN and ITV’s FAITH IN THE FUTURE, which won a British Comedy Award.

Jan and her husband, Gavin live on the Suffolk coast. She is a year round sea swimmer.
