24 Sep Sell out shows for INK Springboard at HighTide!
Wow what a fantastic day at HighTide we had on September 17th. With sell out shows and a packed audience in a fantastic venue, INK were thrilled at how well Thea Smiley’s stage play, Role Play, was received.
With a converted shipping containers as our venue, it gave the audience a real pop up theatre vibe. We would like to send a huge thank you to HighTide for having us, partnering with us in supporting new writers. We would also like to say a huge thank you to director Julia Sowerbutts, and the incredible cast who worked so hard to perfect an extended stage play from the original short piece performed at INK Festival 2016.
A word from writer, Thea Smiley-
‘I would like to say a big THANK YOU to Julia Sowerbutts, Clare Hawes, the amazing cast and crew, and INK Festival for all their support and hard work in getting Role Play performed at HighTide. I feel fortunate to have seen my play transformed, and grateful to everyone involved. This has been an incredible experience, and I know it will have a positive impact on my writing. I am now looking forward to stepping up a gear and making further developments to Role Play, and I hope that it can evolve in surprising new ways and keep on rolling.’ Thea Smiley, writer for Role Play
“There was great depth to the story and at times it was really moving as the audience identified with the frustration and despair of the characters for themselves. It challenges the audience to contemplate and think again and to understand.” Chris Ure, Deputy Director, Southwold Arts Festival
