INK 2016 BEST PLAY AWARD

INK 2016 BEST PLAY AWARD

INK are delighted to announce that the BEST PLAY AWARD for INK 2016, goes to Daughter, by Bill Cashmore!

The standard of LIVE PERFORMED new writing stage plays was exceptionally high this year, and we are very excited that we have been able to introduce INK AWARDS to this years’ festival. The INK BEST PLAY award has been given to Daughter, a new writing stage play by Bill Cashmore and directed by Julia Sowerbutts.

Daughter is a poignant tale of fatherly love. This 25 minute play is suitable for all ages and is funny, touching and ultimately surprising. A must for Ink 2016 from a writer who has had plays performed over many years in Southwold, Aldeburgh and all over the world.

Bill Cashmore graduated from Cambridge University and performed with the Cambridge Footlights. Since then Bill has worked as an actor, director and writer. He has written comedy for television and radio, pantomimes for theatres all over the country and plays for theatres in the UK and abroad. In conjunction with Andy Powrie, his writing partner who lives in Halesworth, he has written 10 one act plays for the Southwold Summer Theatre. One of these, Trip of a Lifetime, has been published by French’s. On successive nights, a double bill of his plays was seen by the Prime Minister of Romania and Mrs Mubarak, wife of the former Egyptian leader. He believes this is a unique juxtaposition. He is delighted to be part of Ink 2016.
