Julia Sowerbutts segued from professional actress to director when she moved to Suffolk fifteen years ago. She trained at Durham University, The Drama Studio, London and at UEA where she gained a distinction in a Theatre Directing MA. For INK she has directed Out For the Season, Modern Living, Table Talk, Steam, The Other Woman, Biggest Fear, Powerhouse, Write into War, Daughter and Beached. The latter won Velvet Trumpet’s 2015 new comedy award at Southwark Playhouse. Julia also helped develop and directed Role Play for High Tide 2016 and in November she directed an acclaimed full length production of Daughter for The Pleasance Theatre, London. Other recent productions include: her own  adaptation of A Matter of Life and Death, Sunshine on Leith, A Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, Henry IV Part 1, Travesties, A Christmas Carol, Ajax, Ann Boleyn, Pack of Lies, Letter from Aldeburgh, Happy Families Tangled Lives and Wind in the Willows.

Emma Struthers graduated with a Masters in Scriptwriting from the University of East Anglia in 2013. Her acting credits include Twelfth Night, The Government Inspector, King Lear, Antigone and Richard III. Emma’s writing credits include Love Left Hanging and The Bricks of Burston for Stuff of Dreams Touring Theatre Company, Obsession, Dressed for Gardening, Cavell, Raw, A King’s Song and Innocence Lost. Radio credits include What Happened at Bath Time?, Starting Over and Our Little Secret. Published work includes The Waiter.Emma’s new short play, Living As Humans Do, was performed at Ink festival 2015. Emma played the role of ‘Edy’ in Looking to Eternity feature film 2016. Emma assisted in the production, scriptwriting and editing team for Looking to Eternity. Emma directed short film Death and the Moron which premiered at INK Festival 2015.
